Our project was inspired by the work of sound artist and composer, Dafna Naphtali. We explored the Stetson University campus and documented our experience through the practice of Field Recording and videography. Each member of our group utilized the sounds from our soundwalk as a source of inspiration to compile our own artistic creation. The first group member, Jodi-Ann Taylor, created a song using the sounds from the natural world that were sourced using Zoom Recorders and used the sounds retrieved from the sound walk to inspire the creation of a song, and incorporated the sounds into the created track. The second group member, Chris Hernandez, used the sounds to inspire the creation of a digital drawing inspired by a painter’s technique using the program Clip Studio Paint. The final group member, Rodrigo Teixeira, compiled the videography visuals he captured, the digital drawing, and musical creation into a documentary style video of our sound walk experience. Through this, we learned to value the beauty, uniqueness, and power of the sounds around us. We welcome viewers along our journey, encouraging them to embrace the world around them, and grasp it as a source of creative inspiration.
